Excerpt: When we focus on the business case, racial/ethnic minority lawyers become “diverse hires.” Women become attrition statistics. Gay and lesbian lawyers become members of affinity groups. By concentrating on the revenue that diversity generates, we have stopped talking about the responsibility of our profession’s leaders to ensure that the brightest minds have full and unfettered access to all levels of this profession.
